The Power of Intuition by Gary Klein

A fascinating book on how people develop and build on intuition. This is not the mystical book on other-worldly intuition; rather, it explains how people use their experiences to develop mental models and templates. The simplest and most common of these, according to Klein, is the “recognition-primed decision” model, where a situation is immediately fit into one of many templates based on crucial features of the situation and then action is taken accordingly. The templates themselves get refined and improved with each experience.
