White Man’s Burden

The White Man’s Burden by William Easterly

Buy now: Fictionwise e-book

A fascinating by William Easterly, who used to work for the World Bank and now teaches at New York University as part of its Development Research Institute, and runs the Aid Watch Blog along with Laura Freschi, also of the Development Research Institute. Easterly has been described as an “aid skeptic”, though I am not sure this description quite fits him.

Appearances: See also this Authors@Google with William Easterly on The White Man’s Burden.

Lists: The book made it to a list of top ten pro-liberty books of the 2000s.

Reviews of White Man’s Burden: Amartya Sen in Foreign Affairs, Prakash Loungani in Cato Journal (PDF), Virginia Postrel in the New York Times, Nicholas Kristof in the New York Review of Books, The London Book Review.
